About Antique Pots

Antique Pot Lino Prints is a printmaking project celebrating simple forms, block colour and the quiet pleasure of making by hand. Produced as small limited editions on hand torn coloured paper, the works explore traditional linograpghy through sketching, carving, mark making and printmaking.

The collection began after time spent wandering brocantes and second hand markets in the south of France, collecting antique terracotta pots, vintage ceramics and old china jugs. Drawn to the lightly textured tactile surfaces, simple forms and traditional craft, these everyday objects became the starting point for a series of prints.

About The Process

✩ Each piece begins as a pencil study before being carved into lino using traditional tools, scratching deep lines and delicate texture into the block’s surface.

✩ Once carved, the blocks are inked in earthy brown and red relief inks and printed onto fine art paper using a peanut butter jar and silver spoon in place of a press.

✩ Produced in a single run only, subtle shifts in pressure, ink and paper leave behind wonky edges and small imperfections, giving each print its own unique quality and ensuring no two prints are exactly the same.

about mila may

Mila May is an artist living and working by the sea in Falmouth, Cornwall. With a degree in Printed Textile Design from Falmouth University, her practice sits somewhere between painting and printmaking, working with acrylic, relief inks and mixed media.

Influenced by traditional screen-printing techniques, thin layers of acrylic are brushed and buffed into panel and paper over time. Colour is built slowly through a process of layering, revealing and reworking, creating paintings rich in softness, depth and texture.

Playful forms, warm muted colours and a love of simple shapes sit at the heart of Mila's collections.

about the work

Painting from her Falmouth studio, Mila works predominantly with acrylic and mixed media, layering paint and drawing onto panel, paper and wood.

Inspired by everyday coastal living, sweet summer delicacies, warm Mediterranean holidays and childhood summers idling outdoors, her paintings celebrate colour, play and nostalgia.

Mila's current body of work explores the joyful memories we carry with us and the objects and still lifes that shape our everyday.

Beach balls, flowers, sailboats, antique pots and deli goods appear throughout her collections, inspired by life's small pleasures and the moments that stay with us long after returning home.
